Hurricane Sandy
-
Hurricane Sandy ripped through New York early this week and caused unimaginable destruction from the tip of Long Island, through New York City and into Westchester and Rockland Counties. My thoughts and prayers go out to the millions of people who were affected by the hurricane, who have lost power, lost homes, lost lives.
Those who are in need of assistance from storm damage should immediately call one of these three numbers, depending on where you live:
- Westchester County Office of Emergency Management - 914-231-1900
- New York City Office of Emergency Management - 718-422-8700
- Rockland County Office of Emergency Management - 845-364-2020
If your power is out, call Con-Ed at 1-800-75-CON-ED or Orange and Rockland at 1-877-434-4100.
The best way to enable your local officials to help you is for them to know you are in need. That is why reaching out to one of the three OEM offices is vital for anyone who suffered damage. You can also go to the FEMA website and download any documents required for receiving aid.
The only way for us to pull out of this disaster is to do so together. I stand ready to assist in every way I can, and I urge New Yorkers to show the world how our reputation for resiliancy is earned.
