Obama Signs Bill Honoring Cpl. Kyle Schneider Into Law

 

 
Washington, DC -  Over the weekend, President Barack Obama signed H.R. 5837 into law. The bill, introduced by Representative Ann Marie Buerkle (NY-25), designates the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 26 East Genesee Street in Baldwinsville, New York, as the "Corporal Kyle Schneider Post Office Building."

“Corporal Kyle R. Schneider is an American hero and I am so pleased that President Obama signed this legislation honoring him into law,” said Buerkle.

“Kyle is greatly missed, and while nothing can ever diminish the grief of those who knew and loved him, I hope that this small token will serve as a reminder of how appreciative his community and country are for his service and sacrifice. In his death, Kyle has earned the thanks of a grateful nation. We must never forget his sacrifice and that of his family and loved ones.”

Baldwinsville native, Kyle Schneider, joined the joined the United States Marine Corps in 2008. In January 2011, he was assigned to 3rd Platoon and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In defense of the United States, Kyle was killed in Helmand Province Afghanistan on June 30, 2011 by an improvised explosive device. He was 23 years old.
