The Veto That Should Have Been

After numerous Republican calls for a veto of the $410 billion dollar omnibus spending bill, President Obama will sign the bill into legislation today. Reports of a possible second stimulus are already in the works to the dismay of most Republicans and many conservative Democrats.

"This bill deserved a presidential veto – and had the President issued one, Republicans would have worked with him to sustain it and pass a more responsible bill," reads a statement from House Leader John Boehner. " At a time when middle class families and small businesses are making tough budget decisions of their own, this legislation makes Washington look even more out of touch."

President Obama has talked endlessly about "bipartisanship" but as Rep. Tom Price (GA-06) told a group of bloggers yesterday, Obama speaks bipartisan well but has yet to act in that way.
