About this Database:
This searchable database lists foreign newspapers currently received
and permanently retained on microfilm by the Library of Congress.
It supersedes the foreign portion of the printed publication Newspapers
Received Currently in the Library of Congress (Washington,
D.C.: GPO, 1993).
Newspapers in Asian and Middle Eastern language scripts do not come to the Newspaper and Current Periodical Room, but are held in either the Asian Division or African and Middle Eastern Division. Current Slavic and Baltic language newspapers are held by the European Division. The Newspaper and Current Periodical Room only has custody of the older Slavic and Baltic language newspapers on microfilm.
A newspaper is a serial publication
which is mainly designed to be a primary source of written information
on current events, either local, national, or international in scope.
It contains a broad range of news on all subjects and activities
and is not limited to any specific subject matter. Newspapers are
intended either for the general public or for a particular ethnic,
cultural, or national group. |
