OLSON WELCOMES HOUSTON AREA SUMMER INTERNS TO WASHINGTON

Washington, DC– Rep. Pete Olson (R-Sugar Land) today welcomed Houston area students to Washington to serve as summer interns.  The Olson summer interns are: Ryan Sweezey, Annelise Rickert, Brett Nelson, and Chase Smolik.

"I'm pleased to welcome these exceptional young men and women to Washington to learn about how their government works and assist with the needs of the constituents that I'm proud to represent," Olson said. "Interns play an integral role in office operations. It's heartening to see young people expressing a strong interest in understanding how Congress operates.  We consider this office a home away from home for them and appreciate all of their hard work."

Ryan Sweezey grew up in Clear Lake, Texas and is a graduate of Clear Brook High School. He is currently a junior at Trinity University in San Antonio. He is studying political science and economics.

Annelise Rickert grew up in Sugar Land, Texas and is a graduate of Steven F. Austin High School. She is a recent graduate of Loyola University with a bachelor of arts in English literature and minor in business administration.

Brett Nelson grew up in Clear Lake, Texas and is a graduate of Clear Lake High School. He is currently a junior at Utah State University and is studying political science with a minor in history.

Chase Smolik grew up in Needville, Texas and is a graduate of Needville High School. He is currently finishing his senior semester at Texas A&M and will receive a degree in Entomology. He also plans to obtain a second degree in Nursing upon completion of his bachelor's degree.
