Lamborn Listens, Supports Demand for Spending Cuts

Today the viral Republican internet site, YouCut , received its one-millionth vote to cut federal spending.  Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05)  voted for this week’s proposed cut to prohibit new funding for the IRS to hire as many as 16,500 new auditors, agents, and other employees to enforce the individual health care mandate. This would have saved taxpayers up to $10 billion. The proposal was defeated by a vote of 243 to 181, with only 8 Democrats voting with a unanimous Republican Conference.

“In a time when citizens feel like they’re being ignored, the Youcut program has proven to be a valuable tool for concerned Americans to voice their opposition to reckless government spending.  The program allows taxpayers to vote on spending cuts, the most popular of which are taken to the house floor for a vote. The most recent proposal could save taxpayers up to $10 billion dollars by prohibiting funding to the IRS to hire new agents to enforce the individual healthcare mandate.

“I invite all Americans to get involved in selecting next week’s proposed spending cut by clicking on YouCut.” -- Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05)
