    I testified before the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission and encouraged them to keep fracking further away from homes and schools and to confirm the important role of counties and cities in determining land use within their borders. It's not easy and I don't envy the county commissioners their jobs but the state shouldn't attempt to do their job for them with a one-size-fits-all approach.

      As a Viet Nam war veteran I am deeply concerned about the assult on our constitution that this current administration is undertaking. Paticuarly the 2nd ammendment. And Obomas political posturing, using children for his props in his attempt to take our rights away. Were any of these children orphans of the Bengazi murders that we still have no answers to?

      Dear Mr. Polis, My name is Luke Phillipi- I currently am working in Estes Park until I return to school in the fall. I wanted to voice my opinion on the current bill that was recently introduced by President Obama this past week. I recently read the White House's proposal entitled 'Now is the Time' and I applaud President for his pursuit of trying to create a safer atmosphere for schools and citizens everywhere throughout our country. It is a noble undertaking indeed. However, as a citizen of this fine country, I don't believe that it is in our best interests to follow through with one of the President's proposals. While I completely agree that we need to increase the safety of our schools and increase the availability of mental health services to our citizens, I disagree on the plan to outlaw all assault rifles and high capacity magazines. We do need to aide people and empower them to make decisions that help increase their well being - however that also means that we need to give our citizens the right to protect themselves from the evils that exist in our society. Certain people exist in this world that are just evil. And while our government does try to protect us, they cannot be everywhere at once. It is by empowering our own people that we ensure our security and our future. This proposal that the president has brought before you certainly has noble intentions. If you are indeed a representative of the American people, I would like you to know that I believe that this proposal is not something that is in the best interests of our country and I hope that you won't cast your vote to pass it.     It’s a tremendous honor to be selected to serve the caucus, Mr. Hoyer and the whip operation as parliamentarian for the new Congress. I look forward to ensuring that Republicans do not exploit the rules of the House and that they follow proper procedure. Accountability and transparency are cornerstones of the legislative process. In my new role I hope to safeguard the public interest.
