As Acting Chairman of the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Human Resources, I will be holding a hearing this afternoon examining proposals to reduce child deaths due to abuse and neglect. Every year, over 1500 children die due to abuse or neglect in our country. This issue is a tragic one, but also one that can be avoided.

In June, my bill to repeal the dangerous new tax on American medical device innovation passed with a bipartisan vote in the House - including every member of the Minnesota delegation.
Now it is time for the Senate to act. A letter signed ...by 18 Democrat Senators was sent to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) asking to delay this job-crushing tax due to the overall poor economy as well as a lack of guidance for compliance.See More
