Capito Announces $459,906 Grant Awarded to the Teays Valley Volunteer Fire Department

Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., announced today the award of a grant in the amount of $459,906 to Teays Valley Volunteer Fire Department in Putnam County through a the Staffing for Adequate Fire & Emergency Response Grant (SAFER). The Grant was awarded by FEMA’s Region III office.

As a result of this project, the Teays Valley Volunteer Fire Department will receive almost a half million dollars in federal support and bring more jobs to West Virginia to meet the increasing demand placed on today’s fire service.

“I am delighted to see this generous grant coming to our state, and I know that it will be very useful in keeping our communities safe. These funds will allow the department to increase its staff by hiring four new firefighters. The additional firefighters will allow the department to continue to provide quick emergency response to the surrounding areas and increase the safety of the current firefighters working at that station.”
