CONGRESSMAN CARTER PRESENTS AWARD TO TAYLOR TEACHER

Taylor, Texas, Sep 20, 2006 -

Humanities Texas has selected Taylor High School English teacher Vicki Rowe as a recipient of the 2005 Outstanding Teaching of the Humanities Award. Congressman John Carter and Humanities Texas Executive Director Michael L. Gillette will present a certificate and cash prize to Mrs. Rowe on Monday, September 18, at 10:00 a.m. at Taylor High School.

“I am honored to present Mrs. Rowe with this prestigious award from Humanities Texas. Mrs. Rowe has selflessly committed her time, talents, and resources to giving her students an excellent education,” Congressman Carter said. “Teachers play a critical role in our nation’s future, helping shape the minds of tomorrow’s leaders. The Taylor community is fortunate to have such caring and skilled teachers as Mrs. Rowe, and I congratulate her for being recognized for her hard work.”

Humanities Texas grants these awards annually to Texas teachers to recognize exemplary contributions in teaching, curriculum development and extracurricular programming. The award provides $1,000 to Mrs. Rowe to further her professional development and $500 to Taylor High School for instructional materials and/or for the improvement of humanities courses and programs.

“We are pleased to recognize such a gifted teacher,” said Dr. Gillette. “Mrs. Rowe instills the joy of learning in her students and motivates them to achieve at high levels.”
