Carter Says Congress Needs New Pro-Life Commitment  

(WASHINGTON, DC)  -- House Republican Conference Secretary John Carter (TX-31) today praised the efforts of tens of thousands of pro-life supporters in keeping the pressure on Congress to defend the life of every American.

“We have made progress in preserving the lives of at least some of the unborn since the flawed 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, but we have a long way to go before the law once again protects all Americans,” says Carter, a Texas state judge for two decades before being elected to Congress in 2002.  “The thousands of Americans who participated in today’s March for Life, and the millions  who have done so in the past, deserve much credit for keeping pressure on Congress and educating the public on this long-standing wrong in our legal system.  While we have achieved some success in addressing partial birth abortions, parental notification, waiting periods, and federal funding issues, we still have much work left before we can reverse this policy of death entirely.”

Carter called on all pro-life Members of Congress from both parties to match the efforts of March for Life participants, in renewing congressional commitment to restoring the right to life of all Americans from unborn infants to the elderly.
