Boustany Supports State of Louisiana's Request to Provide Relief to South Louisiana Flood Victims

(Washington, DC)  – Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D. (R-South Louisiana), released the following statement today after sending a letter to President Obama in support of the State of Louisiana’s request for a major disaster declaration as a result severe storms and flooding from March 11-12, 2012.  The request specifically regards individual and public assistance for Acadia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, and Jefferson Davis Parishes:

“Last month, thousands of families in South Louisiana were severely affected in the wake of heavy rain storms on March 11-12.  Thousands of homes were damaged or destroyed due to the sudden impact of the resulting flooding. Having visited some of these affected areas and speaking with many constituents across Acadia, Lafayette, St. Landry, and Jefferson Davis Parishes, I feel a major disaster declaration will help these same families affected by these devastating storms and severe weather. For this reason, I am urging the President to grant the State of Louisiana’s request and allow for the families of South Louisiana to be provided with some relief so they may be able to move forward in rebuilding not just their homes but their lives as well.”
