Boustany Calls on Swift Appointment of VA Director to Avoid Further Delays
June 20, 2012
(Washington, DC) – Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D. (R-South Louisiana) released the following statement today after sending a letter to Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary Eric Shinseki asking for a swiftly appointed replacement for retiring Alexandria VA Health Care System Director Gracie Specks:
“I am grateful for the service of Director Specks and wish her the best in the future. Today, I wrote VA Secretary Shinseki asking him to make a swift appointment and name a replacement as soon as possible. The veterans of South Louisiana have waited years for procurement of a community based outpatient clinic, and I fear a lengthy process in appointing a new Director will further delay or even halt this process. That is why I urge VA Secretary Shinseki to make an appointment and name a new Director for the Alexandria VA Health Care System as quickly as possible.”
