Secretary Bodman, Boustany Tour New LNG Facility in Cameron Parish

Cameron Parish, LA – U.S. Representative Charles W. Boustany, Jr., MD, R-Southwest Louisiana, today toured Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass LNG receiving terminal with U.S. Secretary of Energy Samuel Bodman.

Liquefied natural gas is a sensible solution to America’s energy needs, and the Sabine Pass is an example of this solution in action,” Boustany said. “I am proud of the cooperation between Cheniere Energy, local, state and federal agencies and members of the local community. This demonstrates what can be accomplished when people work together, and I am glad Southwest Louisiana is a national leader in supplying the energy our country needs.”

Boustany, a longtime supporter of liquefied natural gas, toured the new receiving terminal, which will significantly increase LNG access for much of the nation. Southwest Louisiana is committed to providing the nation access to the world’s supply of natural gas. Twenty-five percent of the nation’s liquefied natural gas will run through Southwest Louisiana by the year 2015.
