Boustany Praises Announcement of Calcasieu River Dredging Level

Washington D.C. - U.S. Representative Charles Boustany, Jr., (R- Southwest Louisiana) today praised an Army Corps of Engineers report that the Calcasieu River returned to pre-Hurricane Rita depths.

“The Port of Lake Charles is critical to our economy in Southwest Louisiana, and today’s report on the operability of the river should boost commerce,” said Boustany. “Since 2005, I have worked in Congress to secure funding and authorization for dredging projects along the river.  Seeing progress like this serves as a reminder of the work completed and the work left to do.”
