Washington, DC – Representative Charles Boustany, (R-Southwest Louisiana) today congratulated Congressman John Boehner (R-Ohio) on his formal nomination for Speaker of the House of Representatives.

“I want to commend Leader Boehner on his selection by fellow Republicans for Speaker of the House,” Boustany said. “Over the past few years, he has demonstrated his leadership in Congress and has provided a clear voice for Republicans throughout this election cycle.  I look forward to working with Speaker Boehner during the next Congress. We have much work to do, and I believe that with his leadership, we will be able to turn the country around again.”

Boehner was selected by the Republican conference as their nominee for Speaker of the House on Wednesday.  He is expected to be officially elected Speaker in January when the new Congress convenes in Washington.  The Republican leadership has stated that they will focus on creating jobs, cutting spending, and improving the national economy.
