Boustany Announces a $285,000 Grant for the Lafayette Regional Airport

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Charles W. Boustany, Jr., R-Lafayette, today announced a grant totaling $285,000 to rehabilitate and reconfigure the apron at the Lafayette Regional Airport, which serves Lafayette and surrounding parishes.

The Lafayette Airport plays an integral role in the economy of Southwest Louisiana and it is important that the airport remain competitive in its offerings for both travel and larger business ventures.” Boustany said.  “This grant will allow the airport to make much needed improvements to better serve customers and make the airport more attractive to potential business opportunities in the state and region.

Greg Roberts, the Director of Aviation for the Lafayette Regional Airport, expects construction to begin in mid July and be completed in about a year.

“This will allow us to accept much larger aircraft and promote further development of that general aviation and corporate aviation here in Lafayette and Acadiana,” Roberts said, “that, of course, means jobs.”

One grant totaling $285,000 will be used to reconstruct and reconfigure an aviation apron at the airport.  Boustany announced the grants from the Federal Aviation Administration.
