Boustany: Lake Charles Airport to Receive $12 Million for New Terminal

Washington, D.C.  – U.S. Representative Charles W. Boustany, Jr., R-Lafayette, announced today that Lake Charles Regional Airport will receive a federal grant of $12,100,000 for construction of a new terminal at the facility.  The award is granted through the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

“This is significant step forward for the construction of a new facility at Lake Charles Regional,” said Boustany, a member of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee.  “This airport serves as a critical gateway to connect businesses and travelers in Southwest Louisiana, and I’m pleased that the FAA has realized the importance of this new project.”

Lake Charles Regional Airport has outlived its original life and suffered significant damage during Hurricane Rita.  This funding will assist with the construction of a new terminal building on the airport’s grounds.  Despite initial objections from the FAA, Representative Boustany has supported the rebuilding of a new terminal at Lake Charles Regional to replace the old structure.
