Boustany Announces $27,990 Firefighting Grant for Sulphur

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Charles W. Boustany, Jr., MD, R-Southwest Louisiana, today announced the Sulphur Fire Department received a $27,990 grant for fire prevention.

Following the United States Fire Administration Reauthorization Act last week, this grant will provide funds the Sulphur Fire Department needs to save lives and prevent fires,” Boustany said. “I will continue to work with our first responders in Southwest Louisiana to ensure they have the training and equipment they need to perform their job at the highest level.”

The Sulphur Fire Department grant was awarded as part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants. The program aims to enhance response capabilities and to more effectively protect the health and safety of the public with respect to fire and other hazards.  The grants enable local fire departments and emergency medical service organizations to purchase or receive training, conduct first responder health and safety programs, and buy equipment and response vehicles.
