Congresswoman Bonamici Appointed to House Education and the Workforce Committee

Dec 20, 2012 Issues: Education

Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (OR-1) announced today that she has been appointed as a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce for the 113th Congress. The committee oversees federal education programs and initiatives across agencies, including the No Child Left Behind Act and Higher Education Act. Committee jurisdiction also includes oversight of federal labor laws and workforce training programs.

My passion for education was my inspiration to go into public service,” said Bonamici. “The best way to strengthen our communities and our economic competitiveness is to ensure that our students and workers have access to the highest quality education and training in the world. I attended public schools from kindergarten through law school, and I will be a strong voice for students, educators, and workers around our nation. I look forward to serving on this important committee.”

Bonamici will also continue to serve on the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee.
