Congressman Bucshon (IN-08) states:

“Stopping the war on coal that is being waged by the Obama administration is necessary for the economic future of Indiana.  Nearly 95 percent of electric power generation for our state comes from coal fired power plants and every coal mine in the state is in Southwest Indiana and the Wabash Valley.   Protecting the jobs of hardworking Hoosiers and ensuring we don’t have to pay higher utility costs is critical to the citizens of the 8th District and our state.  At a time of high unemployment and a sagging economy, Indiana cannot afford the failing energy policies of this Administration.

“Additionally, I was proud to introduce an amendment that will ensure rules being proposed are based on sound science that can be peer reviewed and replicated.  As a medical doctor, I understand the importance of good science and I believe good science makes good policy.  It is important the American people are able to review studies that contribute to federal rule making and know that every rule and regulation is based on sound science.”
