Customer Reviews

Don't really see a difference.

I was hesitant to upgrade from Lion to Mountain Lion on my MacBook Air due to all the negative feedback about slowing down your computer and losing battery life. However, after reading some better reviews, especially with the 10.8.2 update, I decided to give it a go. The downloading (2 hours) and installing (30 minutes) did take awhile, but I expected that. So no stars docked for that. The lack of 1 star is due to the fact that I really don't see much of a difference or great new features with Mountain Lion compared to Lion. iMessage is kind of cool, but I don't really see myself using that. The Reminders and Notes app are nice to have. I don't actually have much of a use for the Notification bar. Overall, I'm just glad and relieved that my MacBook Air is functioning similarly with Mountain Lion as it did with Lion. The processing speed seems to be the same. Also, the battery life seems to be the same. I just wanted to tell people that if they are fearful of upgrading - I didn't see any changes in my computer's functioning. So go ahead and upgrade, especially if you want to be up-to-date with the latest.

Worked for me!

have to say i was motivated to write review after all the negative comments, and i was nervous about upgrading. Back up your hard drive first, update all of your software, make sure OS is most current version and empty out all your trash. I jumped from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion, and it was a snap!

Wonderful!!

I upgraded my 2009 MacBook Pro from 10.5.8 (very old, I know!) to Snow Leopard and then downloaded Mountain Lion. I read the reviews for ML and, after seeing all the negative reviews, was honestly pretty nervous.

The download took about an hour and a half (connected to my university wifi) and then installation took maybe an hour-ish. I have opened all of my regular applications and they open quickly and work fine! Honestly, I am SO pleased with Mountain Lion! It was a great decision; my computer feels brand new, my newly installed Adobe CS6 runs smoothly, and my three year old MacBook Pro is running much faster than it used to!! Thanks Apple!
