Being centrally located in the U.S. provides Kansans with many economic opportunities. Businesses, homeowners, and our farmers rely on multiple modes of transportation to move products and people. From high quality roadways, to industry leading aviation manufacturers, to a vast network of railways, Kansans take pride in being a leader in the transportation industry. A safe and efficient transportation system is vital to the economic development of our state, which is why I supported recent passage of a 27 month reauthorization of our federal highway program. The bill, which according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office reduces budget deficits by 16.3 billion over 10 years, will help create and sustain 175,000 jobs in Kansas. Our state officials and citizens deserve the funding and regulatory certainty necessary to repair and construct Kansas’ aging transportation infrastructure.
