49ers coach Chip Kelly coached Sunday's game against the Bears after his father Paul passed away on Friday night. Kelly traveled home to New Hampshire and then met the team in Chicago before the game. "The thoughts and prayers of the entire San Francisco 49ers organization are with Chip and his family as they face the difficult process of grieving the off of a loved one," general manager Trent Baalke said in a statement from the team. "Understandably, coach will take some time to be with his family before returning to the team this week. Chip has our continued support as he mourns the passing of his father." Kelly will not participate in his usual Monday press conference.

49ers coach Chip Kelly said the move to Blaine Gabbert at QB was intended to spark the offense in the fourth quarter and nothing more. Asked if he intended to go back to Colin Kaepernick next week against the Jets, Kelly said that's not something that's even been discussed yet.

49ers QB Colin Kaepernick said he was "surprised" that he got pulled for Blaine Gabbert in the fourth quarter. Kaepernick said he didn't feel it was his place to put up a fight when QB coach Ryan Day informed him of the change. He offered a similar answer when asked if he believed he will be the starter moving forward.

Loved the tape on Colin Kaepernick and the fantasy matchup heading into today's game versus the Bears defense. But that was really poor football from the 49ers QB. Even with the weather in Chicago reducing the 49ers game plan, Kaepernick failed to produce in the passing game (1-of-5 for 4 yards) and he only rushed for 20 yards in Chip Kelly's zone-read schemes. And Kaepernick was eventually benched for Blaine Gabbert. That's a far fall from the previous four weeks when Kaepernick scored 95 total fantasy points (second in the NFL).
