Bears coach John Fox was asked how close to the team was to activating former 1st round pick Kyle Fuller on Sunday. Fuller was designated to return off of IR, but he has not yet been added to the active roster. "It's like horseshoes and hand grenades," Fox said. "Close doesn't really count."

The Bears are trying to send messages to some of their younger players -- particularly 3rd round pick Jonathan Bullard, who was a healthy scratch on Sunday. "I think there's a variety of ways to motivate young people," coach John Fox said. "He's a player that we do like, that we're trying to bring the best out of him like we do all our players." Second year safety Adrian Amos also missed the 49ers game with a foot injury, but he's another young player that's struggled in recent weeks.

Bears rookie Leonard Floyd flashed again on Sunday, recording a pair of sacks to push his season total to seven -- the third-highest number of sacks for a rookie in Bears' franchise history. "What was impressive about Leonard was being able to put maybe a couple of not some of his better plays behind him yesterday," coach John Fox said. "I thought he responded really well in the second half."

Jay Cutler is owed no guaranteed money from the Bears beyond this season, but one personnel evaluator told Mike Sando he's not totally convinced they part ways this offseason. Best QB options (Insider)

Matt Barkley describes brutal conditions

The Bears QB said after the game it took him "a quarter or so" to adapt to throwing in the snowy weather. "I had to adjust my arm angle and almost push the ball out instead of flinging it," he said. Sights and sounds

Bears probably costs themselves a higher draft pick on Sunday, but it was refreshing to see a complete effort by the defense in Chicago's win over San Francisco.

Kaepernick benched during dreadful performance (0:51)

Loved the tape on Colin Kaepernick and the fantasy matchup heading into today's game versus the Bears defense. But that was really poor football from the 49ers QB. Even with the weather in Chicago reducing the 49ers game plan, Kaepernick failed to produce in the passing game (1-of-5 for 4 yards) and he only rushed for 20 yards in Chip Kelly's zone-read schemes. And Kaepernick was eventually benched for Blaine Gabbert. That's a far fall from the previous four weeks when Kaepernick scored 95 total fantasy points (second in the NFL).

Matt Bowen ESPN Staff Writer

High-volume day for Jordan Howard fantasy owners. The Bears rookie RB carried the ball 32 times for 117 yards and three touchdowns. And when the Bears get in the deep red zone, Howard can produce on downhill run schemes. Pad level and power. Plus, he hits the hole with a burst.

Bears rookie Leonard Floyd continues to develop as an edge rusher. On the safety, Floyd did an excellent job setting up the tackle to create an inside path to the QB. And he can close quick. Speed to get home. These late season game reps are critical for rookies. Floyd finished with two sacks today in the Bears 26-6 win over the 49ers.

Bears announce an attendance of just 46,622 for Sunday's game against San Francisco. There were 14,878 empty seats.

KC Joyner ESPN Insider

Colin Kaepernick had 409 passing/rushing yards last week. This week he has 24 passing/rushing yards with 8+ minutes left in the 4th quarter. That's an incredible production collapse against a mediocre Bears defense.

Bears DE Julius Peppers now has 142.5 sacks, passing Michael Strahan for 5th on the NFL's all-time sack list.

At the moment, at least, Jordan Howard is sixth in fantasy points among running backs since Week 4 (126). He has a position-leading 27 so far today, his third game this year with 20-plus.
