In 2005, Senator Roberts visited the detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba as the then Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. He witnessed interrogations and the humane treatment of detainees.

Senator Roberts has been outspoken on the dangers of relocating terrorists held at Guantanamo to American communities such as Leavenworth, Kansas.

According to the Department of Defense, one in seven freed detainees has returned to terrorism or to fight against our men and women in uniform on the battlefeild.
