Center for the Book Announces Future Author Talks

The following programs are scheduled as part of the Center for the Book's continuing series of talks by authors about their recent books. All are free and open to the public and take place at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. No tickets are required.

Feb. 11, 2003 (Tuesday) Noon, Pickford Theater, Madison Building
Mark Eden Horowitz will discuss his new book, "Sondheim on Music: Minor Details and Decisions" (Scarecrow Press, in cooperation with the Library of Congress, 2003). Co-sponsored with the Library's Music Division and the Publishing Office .

Feb. 19, 2003 (Wednesday) 6 p.m., Mumford Room, Madison Building
Iris Miller will discuss her new book, "Washington in Maps, 1606-2000." Co-sponsored with the Geography and Map Division of the Library of Congress and the U.S. Capitol Historical Society.

Feb. 25, 2003 (Tuesday) 6 p.m., Montpelier Room, Madison Building
Kenneth Janken will discuss his new book, "White, the Biography of Walter White, Mr. NAACP" (New Press, 2003). Co-sponsored with the Library's Manuscript Division.

March 4, 2003 (Tuesday) 6 p.m., Mumford Room, Madison Building
Heid E. Erdrich and Laura Tohe will discuss their new book, "Sister Nations: Native American Women Writers on Community" (Minnesota Historical Society Press, 2002). Co-sponsored with the American Folklife Center of the Library of Congress and the National Museum of the American Indian.

March 6, 2003 (Thursday) 3:30 p.m., Room 119, Jefferson Building
Paul Boyer will present a talk based on his book, "Purity in Print: Book Censorship in America from the Gilded Age to the Computer Age" (Second Edition, University of Wisconsin Press, 2002). Co-sponsored with the Library's Office of Scholarly Programs and the Washington Area Group for Print Culture Studies.

March 24, 2003 (Monday) 6:00 p.m., Mumford Room, Madison Building
Mary Lynn McCree Bryan, Esther Katz and Barbara Bair will discuss the newly published first volumes of the "The Selected Papers of Jane Addams (Preparing to Lead, 1860-81)" and "The Selected Papers of Margaret Sanger (The Woman Rebel, 1900-1928)," both published in 2002 by the University of Illinois Press. Co-sponsored with the Library's Manuscript Division.

April 14, 2003 (Monday) Noon, West Dining Room, Madison Building
Linda R. Monk will discuss her new book, "The Words We Live By: Your Annotated Guide to the Constitution" (Hyperion, 2003). Co-sponsored with the Law Library of the Library of Congress.

April 21, 2003 (Monday) 6 p.m., Mumford Room, Madison Building
Rob Amberg and Sheila Kay Adams, will discuss their new book and CD, "Sodom Laurel Album" (UNC Press with Center for Documentary Studies, Duke University,2002). Co-sponsored with the Library's American Folklife Center.

May 20, 2003 (Tuesday) 6 p.m., Montpelier Room, Madison Building
Robert Caro will discuss his new book, "The Years of Lyndon Johnson: Master of the Senate" (Knopf, 2002).

June 24, 2003 (Tuesday) Noon, Room 119, Jefferson Building
Stuart E. Eizenstat will discuss his new book, "Imperfect Justice: Looted Assets, Slave Labor, and the Unfinished Business of World War II" (Public Affairs, 2003). Co-sponsored with the European Division of the Library of Congress.
