DiLorenzo states in the lawsuit filed Tuesday in Jefferson County Court that Birmingham assessed his firm's business license tax fee based on the firm's gross receipts from all sources, including services rendered outside the city. "Federal and state constitutional law limits a jurisdiction's power to tax activities occurring outside its boundaries," the lawsuit states. Full story »

ALABASTER, Alabama -- A wreck has shut down all lanes of Interstate 65 North in Alabaster, according to a police dispatcher. It's not clear how many vehicles were involved or if anyone was involved.
