U.S. Senator Mark Begich released the following statement today in acknowledgment of National POW/MIA Recognition Day.

“Today marks 33 years that this nation has paused to recognize the more than 83,000 service members that remain missing from campaigns as far back as World War II. It is an important opportunity to thank those former POW’s among us for their service and sacrifice,” said Begich.

“We must never forget those that are missing nor the families of service members that struggle with the loss without the benefit of closure. As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, I remain committed to finding current POW/MIA and bringing them back home to the U.S.”
