The President

The White House

Washington, D. C.

Dear Mr. President:

I am writing in support of Governor John Kasich’s request for a major disaster declaration for the state of Ohio due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy during the period of October 29-30, 2012.  This storm caused widespread power outages and significant damage to public facilities.  Key interstate highways in Northern Ohio were closed for several days.

Local governments incurred costs for debris removal and power restoration.  A major disaster declaration is necessary to assist state and local authorities to continue to ensure the health and safety of Ohioans in affected areas.

We fully support Governor Kasich’s request and urge your prompt consideration.  Thank you for your attention to this matter.
