Logansport, IN. – Today, Congressman Donnelly was honored to present military service medals and an American flag that has flown over the U.S. Capitol to WWII veteran Marion Minks of Logansport. Over 15 of Mr. Minks’ family members and friends attended the ceremony at his home in Logansport.
Mr. Marion Minks, Mr. Minks’ wife, Marjorie, Congressman Joe Donnelly, Mr. Minks’ brother, Paul, and Mr. Minks’ sister-in-law, Marta, take a photo with Mr. Minks’ military service medals.
Mr. Minks served as a Private First Class with the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946. During this time, he served with the 164th Infantry Regiment of the Americal Division in the Philippines and later served in Tokyo.
Mr. Minks received the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 1 bronze service star, World War II Victory Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 bronze star, Honorable Service Lapel Pin, and Marksman Badge with Rifle Bar.
Today’s military service medal ceremony was the first time Mr. Minks has had the complete set of medals he earned through his service.
