South Bend — Congressman Joe Donnelly announced today that payrolls in the U.S. grew by 290,000 in the month of April, marking the largest job growth since March 2006. While 66,000 of the jobs went to workers conducting the decennial census, private employers added 231,000 workers.
“That private companies hired over 230,000 workers in April—the most in more than four years—is proof that the economic recovery is getting stronger. We need to capitalize on this growth by ensuring small businesses have access to credit and the resources they need to grow,” Congressman Donnelly said. “I will continue my push for tax credits for our small businesses to invest and hire more workers. When Indiana’s small businesses and manufacturers do well, Hoosiers do well.”
Additionally, the Bureau of Labor Statistics revised the number of non-farm jobs added in March from 162,000 jobs added to 230,000 jobs added.
