Thank you for visiting the online office of the Maryland Lieutenant Governor.  I’m always delighted when our residents take an active role in learning more about how their state government operates.

In January of 2007, I was inaugurated as Maryland’s 8th Lieutenant Governor.  I am proud to have established a strong partnership with Governor Martin O’Malley to strengthen and grow our middle class; to improve public safety and public education in every part of our state and to expand opportunities to more Marylanders.

The Office of the Lieutenant Governor supports Governor O'Malley and his vision for building a strong and prosperous Maryland.

Governor O’Malley has asked me to focus on five specific areas including, Military Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC), Veterans Affairs, Healthcare, Higher Education and Economic Development.

By collaborating and coordinating with Governor O’Malley, the Maryland General Assembly and the people of Maryland, we continue to work to ensure that our residents will always enjoy the highest quality of life possible.
