SENATOR INOUYE’S STATEMENT IN SUPPORT OF DERRICK KAHALA WATSON’S NOMINATION TO SERVE AS A U.S. DISTRICT COURT JUDGE

WASHINGTON—Senator Daniel K. Inouye issued the following statement today after President Barack Obama nominated Derrick Kahala Watson, a graduate of Kamehameha Schools, to serve as a U.S. District Court Judge for the District of Hawaii.

“Derrick Kahala Watson is a strong selection to serve as a United States District Court Judge for the District of Hawaii. He consistently displayed exemplary legal acumen, integrity, and fairness during his decade as a federal prosecutor in Northern California and Hawaii and that will serve him well on the federal bench. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to join me in supporting his timely confirmation and I applaud Derrick’s willingness to serve Hawaii and our nation.”
