President Obama has already slashed the Department of Defense's budget by $487 billion. If sequestration is fully implemented, our military will suffer an additional $500+ billion cut. In order to ensure our national security, our Armed Forces must be given the appropriate resources needed to protect and defend our freedom.

Yesterday, I introduced my first piece of legislation for the 113th Congress, H.R. 32 - The Military Surviving Equity Act of 2013. This bipartisan piece of legislation will eliminate the "Widow's Tax" for those who have lost a spouse in our Armed Forces. Protecting our military and their families will always be one of my top priorities.
http://1.usa.gov/134aqA9- Excited to hear of Time Warner Cable's plans to expand in Lexington County with a $24 million investment which is expected to create 644 new jobs over the next year!
- I look forward to fighting to cut spending, create jobs, preserve and protect our entitlements, make our tax code fairer and cleaner, and promote our military and veterans in the 113th Congress!
- I just took the Oath of Office and was sworn in to serve another term in the United States House of Representatives. Thank you to all of those in South Carolina's Second Congressional District for giving me this opportunity. I am most grateful and will do my best to represent you to the best of my ability in the 113th Congress.

Today at noon, the House will be called into order and the 113th Congress will convene. House Republicans are optimistic and confident that 2013 will be the year of spending cuts. In order to protect our national security, we must do everything in our power to control our spending and reduce our over $16,000,000,000 national debt before it is too late.
http://bit.ly/UhaMCa- We're down to mere hours before our economy falls off the Fiscal Cliff. The House has passed legislation that averts this entire issue. Sadly, these bills have been stalled by the Senate. And now, it's up to the Senate to act before taxes are raised on American families and our Department of Defense experiences a devastating $500 billion budget cut.
- I am saddened to hear of the passing of General Norman Schwartzkopf. He was a true American hero who saved many lives with his extraordinary military strategies. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
- Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your family!
