Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation

Senator Hutchison is the Ranking Republican Member of the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. This committee has jurisdiction over a broad range of legislative subjects, including science and research policy, space exploration, coastal zone management, interstate commerce, marine navigation and safety, consumer product regulation, aviation, rail passenger and rail freight, trucks, buses, highway safety programs, and many other important areas.

Committee on Appropriations

The role of the Senate Appropriations Committee is defined by the U.S. Constitution, which requires "appropriations made by law" prior to the expenditure of any money from the Federal treasury. The Committee reviews the President’s budget request and writes the legislation that allocates federal funds to government agencies, departments, and organizations on an annual basis. Senator Hutchison is the Ranking Republican Member of the Subcommittee for Commerce, Justice, and Science.

Committee on Rules and Administration

The Committee on Rules and Administration has jurisdiction over the day-to-day operation of the Senate, including Senate floor procedure, administration of the Senate Office Buildings and grounds, meetings of Congress and Member attendance, printing and correction of the Congressional Record, and management of the Senate Gallery. The committee also handles questions of Presidential succession and contested federal elections.
