Rep. Yoder's statement on February unemployment numbers

Rep. Yoder’s statement on February unemployment numbers

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Kevin Yoder made the following statement after the U.S. Labor Department released their jobs numbers for the month of February. The Labor Department report shows U.S. employers added 227,000 jobs in February. The national unemployment rate remaining unchanged at 8.3%.

“I'm pleased to see that 227,000 new jobs were created in February. While these numbers are another step in the right direction, there is still much work to be done by Congress and the President. Unemployment and underemployment – near nineteen percent – remain too high and there are still far too many skilled Kansans ready to work that cannot find jobs. I’m glad the House of Representatives has been active in passing several bipartisan pro-business, pro-growth bills like the JOBS Act to aid our economy. I urge the Senate to act quickly to pass the JOBS Act and to move these additional much-needed bills into law and give our small businesses the tools and resources they need to grow.”
