Adam Lanza didn't shoot those kids because he had a gun, he did so because he was insane. I don't see anyone rushing to Congress to get better help for the mentally ill, just people who want to punish law abiding citizens.

The Law is defined within a society as who controls what by what principles and what force. If a society find it moral (and morality certainly does not overlap with legality in all cases) to replace a corrupt government with a new Republic, it has an obligation to do so.

But assault appearing weapon are the same as non-assault appearing weapons. The difference is cosmetic. Pistol grips and collapsible stocks don't make guns any more deadly. 30 round magazines don't make a gun require extra certification - it just makes reloading more "convenient". What about seniors or people with disabilities? They might not be able to load 5 rd stripper clips.

Also, certification usually means government knows about it. That is against the 2nd Amendment.

Actually, in the trunk of the car was found a long gun, and from the footage it looks like a 12GA Saiga. Four handguns were found. I have NOT found any reliable source stating that an assault weapon was used by Adam Lanza.

    >It's illegal to overthrow the government by force

We did that in 1975 in my country. Guess how illegal something is when your own army is shooting at governmental buildings.

Government going after the drug companies? Forget about it. And who's going to hold psychiatrists accountable? Private industry? Government? The field of psychiatry and medicine is not so young anymore, and established practices are always changing (to a fault in fact). It's politically and mentally easier to go after something concrete and deadly, rather than speak out as a layman against doctors and professors who know more than you (even if they are wrong).

He used an illegal gun. He was not allowed to own one, as he got turned down when trying to buy one for himself...So he decided to kill his mother and steal hers. So its illegal to overthrow a government by force? Ok, well yeah..but if that government tries to take away it citizens rights, then its justified...why do you think our own government helps rebels in Syria and Libya? Love your logic, try thinking for yourself.

A Glock 19 with a 15 round magazine is considered an "assault weapon" to Feinstein.

I'll keep my gun for home defense and try to make guns designed for mass human slaughter unavailable. I've seen enough dead kids and theater-goers. There are no rights without restrictions. By the way 'asshole' is one word.

While I disagree with some of the reasons that were pointed out, I do agree that a new assault rifle ban would not solve the problem and keep the weapons out of law-abiding citizens. I am a liberal, but one of those gun-toting liberals whom believe that there should be more, extended access to mental health care. I would agree to a certification process, not an outright ban, just to prove that people are competent to own weapons, including assault-appearing guns.
