Rep. Jeb Hensarling of Texas is the incoming chairman of the powerful House Financial Services Committee. For banks, investment houses, insurance companies and money managers, there's a new sheriff in town. When I sat down with Mr. Hensarling in his office, he made it clear that he views his job as regulating the regulators—from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to the Securities and Exchange Commission to the Federal Reserve.
