The tragedy in Sandy Hook is terrible. This is a good Washington Post recap about guns and mass shootings in the US.
Eleven facts about guns and mass shootings in the United States »
When we first collected much of this data, it was after the Aurora, Colo. shootings, and the air was thick with calls to avoid “politicizing” the tragedy. That is code, essentially, for “don't talk ab...

+Brian Wood I don't mean this in a bad way, but for someone who probably loves the Second Amendment you don't seem to think much of the Eighth.

Also: in fact, every time there is a plane crash the authorities study it carefully to determine the cause and whether it resulted from a flaw in aircraft design or operating procedures, and new procedures or regulations are adopted in an effort to prevent similar accidents. And people who are likely to cause traffic accidents, such as the elderly and the blind, are not allowed to drive cars.

On the other hand, when a large number of lives are taken with guns, gun lovers refuse to consider the possibility that maybe that particular person should not have been allowed to have a gun, and maybe there's some way we could have kept that person from getting one while still being America. And we have this bit in our Constitution that people apparently think forbids the government from doing anything that might prevent anyone from obtaining the precise gun they want, when they want it, for any reason.

Email is broken and perhaps dead for tech journalists, pundits and hipsters who never had the time or discipline to manage their email accounts, subscriptions and contacts. For the rest of us of legal drinking age, it continues to be a primary means of business and personal communication -- mobile or otherwise.

We're having what are known as "king tides" right now, the few times per year when the sun and moon align in a way to product the most dramatic times. Here in Newport Beach, we had some local street flooding. A few pic. Working on better before-and-afters of high and low to come, but our local bridge is a good one.

With uncertainty overwhelming the SEO industry, it is the belief of many that authentic, share-worthy content that will set the stage for websites and blogs to cement themselves in the web sphere. +Ryan Patrick is right in saying that many chase after SEO results alone and when Google introduces a new change, they all need to start from scratch!

My earlier comment, while still true, was based on a misinterpretation of the line "Apple [reinstates] Google Maps [...]", which I read in a different article, as though it meant they replaced their own maps for Google's as the default. It just means the iOS people got green light to approve the map in the App Store.

Editor, SearchEngineLand.com, covering Google, SEO, PPC, search engines and search marketing.
Introduction
Widely considered a leading "search engine guru," Danny Sullivan has been helping webmasters, marketers and everyday web users understand how search engines work for over a decade.

Danny's expertise about search engines, SEO and search marketing is often sought by the media, and he has been quoted in places like The Wall St. Journal, USA Today, The Los Angeles Times, Forbes, The New Yorker and Newsweek and ABC's Nightline.

Danny began covering search engines in late 1995, when he undertook a study of how they indexed web pages. The results were published online as "A Webmaster's Guide To Search Engines," a pioneering effort to answer the many questions site designers and Internet publicists had about search engines. It was one of the first search engine optimization guides published.

Danny currently heads up Search Engine Land as editor-in-chief, which covers all aspects of search marketing and search engine news. Danny also serves as Third Door Media's chief content officer, which owns Search Engine Land and the SMX: Search Marketing Expo conference series. Danny also maintains a personal blog called Daggle and microblogs on Twitter: @dannysullivan
