Arkansas National Guard Soldiers competed for selection into one of the 39th Infantry Brigade Combat Team’s Reconnaissance Teams at Camp Robinson this weekend. The event allowed the 39th Brigade to select the individuals for one of the Brigade’s most specialized platoons. The recon platoons are made up of Soldiers who receive training in the Army’s infantry schools; such as, Ranger School, Sniper qualification course, Mountain Warfare, Air Assault, Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course. Approximately 36 Soldiers from the 1st and 2nd Battalions of the 39th competed in multiple warrior tasks and infantry skills along with air assault operations in order to prove they were among the best of the best. The event began late Friday night, November 2, and continued non-stop through Sunday morning with the announcement of the selected Soldiers. Soundbites from Sgt. 1st Class Jason Hunter and Staff Sgt. Joshua Loar
