Passport Update

Passport Update: Valid Passports Now Required for Air, Sea, Land Entry/Reentry to United States

Travelers should be advised that as of June 1, 2009 US citizens will be required to present a valid US passport book or card or other document approved by the Department of Homeland security when entering or reentering the United States through sea ports-of-entry, land borders or airports from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean. It is always strongly recommended that travelers verify the specific document requirements for their destination country. The Departments of State and Homeland Security recommend applying for passports as far in advance as possible. For the most up-to-date information, or to apply for a passport, please visit http://travel.state.gov/passport or call the National Passport Information Center at (877) 487-2778. For additional assistance, please contact Representative Judy Biggert’s Willowbrook office at (630) 655-2052.
