Since 1937, Ducks Unlimited has conserved and restored more than 12 million acres of the most critical habitat for waterfowl and other wildlife. Wetlands are among the most productive ecosystems on the planet. They are invaluable not only to waterfowl and scores of other wildlife species, but also to the very quality of life on earth.
At one time, North America supported the largest expanse of grasslands in the world, covering nearly 1 million square miles. Known simply as the Great Plains, this vast area contains the single most important landscape in North America for breeding ducks.
