American Idol alumni are rocking the charts, gaining prestige and putting out new music this week. Take a look at some of the news of note:

The numbers have been compiled and they are impressive! According to the Recording Industry Association of America, all the American Idol alumni combined  have 88 gold and 71 platinum recordings.

Season 7 finalist Kristy Lee Cook is featured on singer and label mate Randy Houser’s new album, “The Boot.”  Keep your eyes open, the album is expected to be released Tuesday, January 22, 2013.

Season 8's 2nd place finisher Adam Lambert was announced as a part of Amazon’s Best Albums of 2012. Adam's sophomore album “Trespassing” placed in the top 50 in the customer favorite category, which represents the 100 Bestselling Albums of 2012.

On The Charts

Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery’s Christmas With Scotty McCreery” is performing well on the charts. Scotty's sophomore album reached #12 on The Billboard 200, is up to #4 on Top Country Albums,  holds at #5 on Top Holiday Albums and re-enters Top Internet Albums at #20. “Christmas with Scotty McCreery” is one of 2012's top-selling holiday titles, passing the 200,000 mark this week.

Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks single “Do You Hear What I Hear” blasts into the top 10 of the Adult Contemporary chart , coming in at #8! The single is also up to #3 on the Adult Contemporary Audience list.

Season 7's Jason Castro released a holiday single as well. His "Gloria (Hark! The Herald Angels Sing/Angels We Have Heard On High)" debuted at #35 on the Christian Songs chart. Season 5's Mandisa also has a single climbing the Christian Songs char. Her "It's Christmas" came in at #23.

Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips' debut album is staying strong on the charts, and is still in the top five of The Billboard 200 this week.
