Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood both scored multiple nominations for the 55th Annual Grammy Awards! The first American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, was nominated for an impressive four Grammy awards including Record of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album for Stronger. Kelly's hit single, "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" also received a nomination for Song of the Year.

According to She Knows Entertainment, Kelly's nomination for Record of the Year marks the first time an American Idol finalist has been nominated in the prestigious category.

Country diva Carrie Underwood received a nomination for Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song for her song, "Blown Away" off her album of the same name.
