As my Chairmanship of the Congressional Black Caucus comes to an end, I am grateful for and moved by the kindness of my colleagues.

Tune into online at or at 89.3 FM to hear about the Green Impact Zone and the latest news.

This morning, some of my colleagues have been so generous as to say a few kind words. Hope you can tune in

My thoughts are prayers are with all the students, families, and teachers of Sandy Hook Elementary.

In 2006, with the restoration, came a new, unprecedented exhibition of WWI history- the National WWI Museum.

In 1994, the Memorial was closed due to deterioration. In 1998, the public adopted a temp. sales tax to renovate and restore the Memorial.

Pres.Coolidge said: “the magnitude of this Memorial, and the broad base of popular support on which it rests..."

Construction continued for three years, slowly but surely, rising as a testament to those who served.

In 1919, KC raised $2.5 mil in <10 days to fund the Liberty Memorial. Allied Commanders dedicated site in 1921.

Also happy to hear support from friends, neighbors-- on the Floor, and presiding over the Floor.

HAPPENING NOW: Congressman Poe on the House floor speaking on H.R. 6364, the bipartisan Frank Buckles WWI Memorial Act.

It is never too late to demonstrate our appreciation to these veterans of the Great War for their service& sacrifice.

Frank Buckles, originally from MO, was the last surviving WWI vet. Unfortunately, he passed away during the drafting of this bill.
