  1. Today the 112th Congress officially ends and the 113th begins. Click “like” if you support more cooperation and progress on the big issues still ahead of us.
  2. I'm on my way to Senator Inouye's funeral service at the Washington National Cathedral. He was an inspirational leader who did a lot for our veterans. He'll be greatly missed.
  3. It was so nice to meet American Gold Star Mothers President Mary Byers from Tennessee and Bethel Shields from Auburn, Maine this morning at Arlington National Cemetery.

  5. There are so many victims, and too many of them are young, innocent children. It’s hard to even comprehend how something like this could take place. Words cannot begin to express the shock and sadness felt by those directly impacted by this tragedy or the sympathy that all of us feel for those who lost so much today. I know I join all Mainers in sending my thoughts and prayers to the families, friends, and schoolmates of the victims and the entire community that was so drastically impacted by this heinous act.
  6. Today I met with representatives from paper mills around the country, including those in Maine, about our concerns over the Canadian paper mill in Port Hawkesbury that received massive government subsidies to open. We’ll be working together closely, especially given its potential impact on our state.

  7. This morning I spoke out against the dysfunction in Congress and the need for filibuster reform. We need to change the way Washington works to get results and avoid more partisan standoffs.
