Paul Chryst will be on the search for a defensive coordinator this offseason, as Dave Huxtable has left the Pitt coaching staff to take the defensive coordinator position at North Carolina State.

Huxtable leaves the Panthers after just one year in Pittsburgh. Pitt's defense steadily improved this season and finished 2012 ranked No. 16 in total defense, No. 24 in rushing defense, and No. 25 in passing defense.

"We appreciate Hux's contributions to our program this year and wish him the best in his new opportunity," Chryst said in an official release after N.C. State announced Huxtable's move.

Pitt produced a 6-6 record this season and will face Ole Miss in the BBVA Compass Bowl, which will kick off at noon on Jan. 5, 2013, in Birmingham, Ala.
