  1. Wishing the Kansas State University Wildcats all the best at the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl! Go Cats!
  2. I am honored to be given the opportunity to represent the Second District of Kansas in the 113th Congress.

I take this job very seriously, and will continue to make serving my constituents in Eastern Kansas my top priority.
  3. America can no longer afford to wait to deal with Washington’s spending problem. We have a tax code to fix, a budget to balance, and folks who need to get back to work. It is time to do the right thing.
  4. This land transfer agreement is another step toward ensuring the NBAF will be built in Manhattan, Kansas. We have worked hard to secure the Congressional commitment to make the NBAF a reality, and this step forward will allow construction to begin early next year.
  5. Tonight I voted to stop President Obama's pay hike for members of Congress--a senseless act during a time when so many folks are struggling.
  6. Regardless of the results of the current negotiations, this year will come to a close amid furious negotiations to avoid the fiscal cliff and the new year will begin with negotiations to address the debt ceiling. Our autopilot spending is e...ating our country's fiscal health alive. If there is anything everyone should agree on, it is the best New Year’s resolution for Congress is to finally address our spending problem, and start by passing a responsible budget.See More
  7. Now is not an appropriate time to give members of Congress a raise. I have sponsored legislation to block this increase and additional legislation to reduce member pay by 10 percent.
  8. I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy New Year! It has been an honor to represent the Kansas 2nd Congressional District during the 112th Congress, and I am looking forward to continuing to do so in the 113th Congress.
  9. Former President George H.W. Bush - We are wishing you the speediest of recoveries. Get well soon!
  10. It's always a sad day when we have to say goodbye to a great leader. Thank you Gen. Schwarzkopf for your service and sacrifice.
  11. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to one and all!
  12. I would like to wish everyone safe travels over the next few days. I am very grateful to be able to spend this time with my family, and I would like to thank those service men and women who will not be able to join their families and friends this year while they work to protect this nation and our freedoms. Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
  13. Growing up on a Kansas dairy farm, I know the estate tax is a threat to family farms. This tax makes baling hay and shoveling manure sound like a get rich quick scheme, when most family farms make an average of $45,000 a year.
  14. I will be speaking on the House floor in a few minutes in support of HR 1509 - a bill to remove Social Security numbers from Medicare cards. Tune in to Cspan to watch!
  15. Cutting spending isn’t about politics, it’s about protecting the futures of our children and grandchildren.
  16. This morning, I participated in House Republican Leadership press conference to discuss the progress of the fiscal cliff negotiations and introduce the Republicans' back-up plan in the case a deal cannot be reached.
