U18 & U16 squads face Nomads in final game of the year

The Youth Academy teams will face off this Saturday in The Home Depot Center

Chivas USA’s U18 and U16 squad will face San Diego Nomads this Saturday, December 15 in The Home Depot Center’s Field 7 and we want to see you there! The U18 game will kick-off at 12 p.m. while the U16 squads will face off at 2:30 p.m. Saturday’s match will be both squads last of the year played in U.S. Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) until action continues in late January.

The event and parking are free but we strongly advise fans to enter through Gate I and park in Lot 16. Fans will not be charged for parking if they enter through this gate as the CIF State Football Championship will be taking place at the same time.

The U18 squad currently sits in fifth place of the Southwest Division of the USSDA with a record of 4-2-5 (W-L-T) and 17 points. Early this month, the U18’s participated in U.S. Soccer’s 2012 Winter Showcase in Florida. The squad finished their participation with a dramatic 4-3 win over D.C. United U18’s and a 1-1-1 record. Meanwhile, the San Diego Nomads U18’s are in last place of the division with a 2-9-1 record. The Nomads fell 2-0 in their last game against the Richmond Strikers and have not reached victory for the past seven games.

The Red-and-White U16’s concluded their participation in the Winter Showcase also with a 1-1-1 record, with a 2-2 draw with D.C. United in their final match. In USSDA action, the young Goats sit in third place in the standings with a record of 6-2-3 with points. Forward Caleb Calvert sits as top team scorer with seven goals scored in his 11 games played. The San Diego Nomads U16 squad took a 1-0 victory over the Richmond Strikers in their last game and is currently ranked eighth in the division standings with a 2-6-4 record.

If you live in Orange County and wish to stay local, the Red-and-White BU11 squad will be playing their final Southern California Development Soccer League Showcase matches in the Rancho Mission Park (30753 La Pata, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675) starting at 1 p.m. against San Diego Surf and at 3:30 p.m. against New Port Mesa Waves on Field 3.
